This is the move the whole method rests on. You are not asked to recall a definition — you are asked something answerable, five ways, about a thing you can see.

Nothing is translated
Meaning arrives through a picture, a gesture and a question — never through English. English shows up once, at the end, to name what you picked up.
You answer out loud
The teacher asks and waits. You point, you choose, you speak. A video cannot tell whether you understood; this can.
It never gets ahead of you
Every sentence is built only from words you have already met, so you are never guessing. What you are shakiest on comes back soonest.
